best penang delicacy

the continuation of our backpacking trip to langkawi..

our next destination was PENANG!!!!...

our mission was to eat the all best penang foods including nasi kandar, laksa, char kuey tiaw and etc

no activities that require stamina and muscle contraction...

its all about foods in Penang...

our accommodation was a courtesy from miss shahira and family who were very kind enough to let us stay there for 3 days. thank you very much. her mother was very kind indeed stuffing our stomach with all the delicious courses of meals during our stay there. i think i gained at least 5kg within 3 days there. haha.

shahira recommended sany's char kuey tiaw nearby her house. it was very late at night (12.30am i think). we just arrived from langkawi that evening, just had our dinner cooked by shahira's mom hence we were both worn out and full. but yet, even with a small portion of char kuey tiaw, i must admit that it was delicious. very much. seriously. i'm not lying.

we also visited sabrina at balik pulau. as her father is the headmaster of MRSM Balik Pulau, so as we entered the school, all the high school memories started gushing into my mind. we ate fried mee hoon made by sabrina even though we already had our "blanch?" (breakfast+lunch) at home. we were there until 3pm, utilizing all the exercise machines that sabrina has at home before she brought us to eat laksa.

laksa Janggus

FYI, like i mentioned in the previous post, i am not a laksa fan. i don't really like to eat laksa. for example, if there are laksa penang and laksa johor at the same table, i will definitely choose sushi. got it? as a reminder here, like i told you just now, not only i just had my lunch and also just ate sabrina's superbly delicious fried mee hoon, and the time between the last meal i had and the one i was about to eat was about 1-2hours. in other words, i was so fooking full.but.....

i was able to say that it was the best laksa i ever had. if i was able to finish it despite my full stomach, you have to believe me that it is good.

here is the laksa, the small bowl. or the kid's size bowl. not much ingredients in it.

it supposed to be Janggus but the "S" has disappeared.

the hot weather kinda force us to have these as well...partially unwilling to...

thank you sabrina for treating us. it made the laksa even MORE delicious..yummy..

after that we went to Queensbay mall for window shopping and shopping for some of us. walking in the mall also helped us to let our GI system to take a rest from receiving anymore foods. i was told from a not-so-reliable source that Queensbay is the largest mall in Malaysia? East Asia?...i thought Mid Valley is the largest. after been in there i think it was not as big as Mid Valley. i don't know. that's how i felt. maybe i was wrong. don't quote me. i myself not sure.

later that night, we had seafoods for our dinner. a very kind and generous man had offered himself to treat us dinner. yippee!!!...God bless you...and also on behalf of my friends and i, i would like to thank MR C who is also shahira's boyfriend for treating us and sorry as we did eat a lot that night. i hope you are not broke after that because of us.

we had fish, squid, kerang, kepah, tom yam, and vegie...i love seafooodss..

the next day we went to a place where they make jeruk. it was so amazing to see all the fruits were kept for days and months in the boxes. i am not a fan so does my family so i did not buy any.

papaya and other kind of fruits

buah pala (some kind of fruit) that have been dried and it produced oil that is good as to relieve pain and muscle strain. that was what they said.

last but not least, nasi kandar...if they said that you can't go home without gamat if you at langkawi, so here, you can't leave Penang without eating nasi kandar. we ate nasi kandar Deen somewhere in Gelugor. my opinion, it may be just nice if you only eat it once a while but to make it as your lunch or dinner everyday, i may not survive. i am still proud to be a Negerian (Negeri Sembilan girl) where i can have masak lemak cili api and sambal everyday. Negeri Sembilan rocks.

plain rice, ayam masak kicap, vegie, telur sotong and various kind of curry = nasi kandar

so that's the end of my journey. a week away and i am now safe and sound at home. the mission now is to enjoy the rest of the hols 'wisely' and to loose weight..yoshha!!
